The ultimate 'runs water' with carp to 35lb

There may be some original unknown carp which were stocked by the gravel company and we certainly know that in 2003 the owner stocked a large number of mirror and grass carp, including around 90 x 20s to 27lb and 160 averaging low doubles.

This gives a total of around 250 carp that have benefited from the rich food resources naturally held in the lake and in addition have been fed on maize and pellets through the winter months - so weight gains have been significant. Around 30 catfish to mid 30s were stocked in August 2006 and further carp over 30lb were introduced prior to the 2007 season.

These fish have seen little pressure so are still relatively easy to tempt. But don't take our word for it... Paul Mersh and two mates fished here for 4 nights in September 2006. They had 70 carp to 29lb, including 12 x 20s. Here's what he had to say:
